The disclosure

Deskstance is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

UPLIFT Desk links are tracked through the Impact affiliate network rather than Amazon. UPLIFT is the one brand on this site with its own direct program, so its buy buttons go to upliftdesk.com through an Impact tracking link. Every other brand routes to Amazon.

When you click a buy link on this site and make a purchase, we may receive a commission from the retailer. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be without the link.

Where you will see this

A disclosure appears at the top of every commercial page, above the first affiliate link, rather than only in the footer. That is deliberate: the FTC's standard is "clear and conspicuous", and a link at the bottom of a page most readers never reach does not meet it. Buy buttons are also marked, so you always know which links earn.

How the links work

Outbound buy links route through a redirect on this domain — a URL beginning /go/ — before sending you to the retailer. There are three reasons for that, and none of them is tracking you:

• One place for the tag. The affiliate tag lives in a single configuration file rather than being pasted into hundreds of links, so it cannot drift or be wrong on one page.
• Safety. The redirect verifies that the destination actually belongs to the merchant it claims. Without that check, this domain could be used to bounce people anywhere.
• Measurement. We can see that a link was clicked. We cannot see what you bought, what you paid, or who you are.

Those redirect URLs carry a noindex header and are disallowed for every crawler, so they never appear in search results.

What the commission does not buy

• Placement. No brand pays to appear, or to appear higher.
• Approval. No brand sees a page before it publishes.
• Favorable coverage. Commission rates are not consulted when rankings are set.

The test of independence is not a promise on a page like this — it is what a site recommends against. We regularly tell readers that the cheaper pick beats the premium one, that a converter is sometimes a better buy than a desk, and that some people should buy nothing at all until they have measured their elbow height. We also tell readers to phone the manufacturer to ask about unpublished discounts, which will not credit us, and to check whether their HSA or FSA will cover it before spending their own money.

Prices

No price is written into the text of this site. Prices in this category change constantly, so every price shown comes live from the retailer — and where we do not hold a verified live figure, the button says "Check price" rather than quoting a number that may be wrong. The price on the retailer's page at the moment of purchase is the one that applies.

Products we did not receive

Nothing on this site was supplied by a manufacturer. One product — the UPLIFT V2 — was bought with our own money; every other product is researched from published material and labeled as such on every page. The method, and the offers we decline.
